Percepção que os homens têm das mulheres tatuadas: pouco atraentes, promíscuas e bêbadas

This study examined social and physical perceptions of blonde and brunette women with different degrees of tattooing. Eighty-four female and 76 male undergraduates rated a series of 16 female line drawings that varied in 2 levels of hair colour and 8 levels of tattooing.

Ratings were made for physical attractiveness and sexual promiscuity, as well as estimates of the number of alcohol units consumed on a typical night out.

Results showed that tattooed women were rated as less physically attractive, more sexually promiscuous and heavier drinkers than untattooed women, with more negative ratings with increasing number of tattoos.

There were also weak interactions between body art and hair colour, with blonde women in general rated more negatively than brunettes.

Results are discussed in terms of stereotypes about women who have tattoos and the effects of such stereotypes on well-being.

Fãs de ‘heavy metal’ mais vulneráveis a distúrbios mentais

Os fãs de ‘heavy metal’ têm mais tendência para sofrerem de distúrbios mentais, tais como a depressão. A revelação é de um estudo australiano, da Universidade de Melbourne.

A análise centrou-se em 50 jovens, com idades compreendidas entre os 13 e os 18 anos, e assentou também em inquéritos junto de mais mil pessoas, o que permitiu concluir que os amantes do metal recorrem à música de forma negativa.

"Adolescentes com risco de depressão tendem a ouvir música, especialmente o ‘heavy metal’, de uma maneira negativa”, refere Katrina McFerran, médica que orientou o estudo, citada pelo portal Music Radar.

De acordo com a especialista, manter comportamentos como ouvir sempre o mesmo disco é típico dos ‘metaleiros’, o que pode gerar um isolamento e contribuir, “em larga escala” para a ansiedade, depressão e até tendências suicidas.

Abstract

Purpose. This study assessed tattoos and body piercings as markers of risk-taking behaviors in adolescents.

Methods. A 58-question survey, based on the 1997 Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Youth Risk Behavior Survey, was offered to all adolescent beneficiaries that came to the Adolescent Clinic. The survey contained standard Youth Risk Behavior Survey questions that inquire about eating behavior, violence, drug abuse, sexual behavior, and suicide. Questions about tattoos and body piercings were added for the purposes of this study.

Results. Participants with tattoos and/or body piercings were more likely to have engaged in risk-taking behaviors and at greater degrees of involvement than those without either. These included disordered eating behavior, gateway drug use, hard drug use, sexual activity, and suicide. Violence was associated with males having tattoos and with females having body piercings.

Gateway drug use was associated with younger age of both tattooing and body piercing. Hard drug use was associated with number of body piercings. Suicide was associated with females having tattoos and younger age of both tattooing and body piercing. Tattoos and body piercings were found to be more common in females than males.

Conclusions. Tattoos and/or body piercings can alert practitioners to the possibility of other risk-taking behaviors in adolescents, leading to preventive measures, including counseling. Tattoo and body piercing discovery should be an important part of a health maintenance visit to best direct adolescent medical care.

Tatuagens em mulheres desagradam 50% dos homens

Segundo nova pesquisa realizada no Reino Unido, 47% dos homens atualmente não acham mais tatuagem um fator atraente. O jornal Daily Mail noticiou os dados do levantamento do site Ask Jeeves. Para 86% dos homens e mulheres participantes, a tatuagem agora se tornou “lugar comum”, e não necessariamente algo atraente.

De acordo com 55% dos participantes masculinos, a cantora Amy Winehouse, por exemplo, ficou “pior” com suas muitas tatuagens. [...] Em contrapartida, 38% das mulheres que participaram da enquete tampouco curtem homens muito tatuados, sendo que 74% delas acham que o jogador de futebol David Beckham, por exemplo, “exagerou” na quantidade de tattoos.

Outros dados da pesquisa mostram que um a cada três britânicos entre 16 e 44 anos têm ao menos uma tatuagem. Deste grupo, 23% declararam que agora se arrependem de terem marcado a pele com o desenho.

“Tattoos, obviamente, estão mais populares do que nunca. Mas essa pesquisa sugere que é uma das coisas que parecem ótimas à primeira vista e que depois viram arrependimento conforme as pessoas envelhecem – disse a porta-voz do levantamento do Ask Jevees, Nadia Kelly.
